ESLA 46
For cast-iron columns with a base compartment, this style of lantern quickly became the staple design for
Group-B roads around the country. Manufacturers made many variants of this same style of column: base
compartment with embellishments, sloping floral patterned top, plain shaft and decorative ladder
bar with floral motif.
This ESLA 46 is a classic example of this style of column.
This column originally stood somewhere in Surrey.
The door is currently missing, but a replacement is being sent to me.
An ESLA swan-neck and lantern is planned for this column.
September 2006
A restored replacement door has been added (thanks P.) and an ESLA Bi-Multi Group "AL" Two-Way 165°
on an ESLA Swan Neck Bracket have been fitted.
