GEC Two-Eighty Z8281

In 2012 after repeated negotiations by several different enthusiasts, permission was finally granted for the GEC Two-Eighty Z8281 lanterns to be saved from the old bus station site at Haywards Heath. All the lanterns were carefully removed – using two cherry pickers simultaneously – and distributed amongst collectors.

It is one of the largest lanterns in the collection and houses two 80W fluorescent tubes along with all the gear to run them.

It is complete with only a small number of cracks in its Perspex bowl.
