Phosco P100

I believe this was the first lantern produced by CU Phosco, who were then making lanterns under the name of Phosware.

Identification is easy as the lantern's number, P100, is embossed around the over reflector.

It is missing its refractor, but the rest of the lantern appears complete. The canopy is slightly different to the Phosco P101 in that it doesn't have the key holder or lug for a bowl ring.

It's fitted with a 3-pin porcelean lampholder so would've originally taken a mercury bulb.

It originally stood in Braintree, Essex, where the lighting engineer rescued it from the skip - good man! As a sawn-off finial was included, it was probably removed when the street light was converted to side-entry sodium.
