urban exploration: stewartby brickworks

alpha 8 graveyard
I assume these Thorn Alpha 8s were used to light the brickworks. They've since been piled up in this enclosure ready for disposal. Most have lost their bowls which is unfortunate as this type of Alpha 8 is becoming rare.

Note the other pile of lanterns further on.

lantern graveyard
There was one lone Thorn Alpha 8 in this pile of unidentified lanterns. Most were full of water.

beta 4 conveyor belt
The conveyor belt was lit by pairs of Beta 4s in one of the processing sheds.

beta 4 conveyor belt
Unlike more conventional Beta 4s, these lanterns had open bowls and didn't have toggles to secure the bowls. (The bowls were secured by screws).

old revo directional lantern
The only older street lighting I found was this old REVO directional lantern near one of the chimneys. (It's not the Magnalite which uses glass but the cheaper enamelled version.)
