Aluminium alloy has been chosen for the common basic metal to take advantage of its inherent corrosion resistance and light weight leading to long service life and ease of handling during installation.

The main lantern casting is in LM6 alumimium. The casting includes the spigot mounting feature and provides the housing for accommodation of lamp auxiliary gear.

He canopy is self coloured fiber glass and incorporates the lamp mounting arrangement. Three hexagon headed screws secure the canopy to the main casting.

Weatherproof protection for the lamps and interior is obtained by an opal perspex bowl. The enclosing bowl includes a hinge at the roadway end and may be completely removed for cleaning.

A single captive finger screw secures thebowl to the main casting. The seal between the canopy and the bowl is maintained by a hollow section Neoprene gasket allowing easy compression and a reduction of the stressing of the hinge and fastening.


Mounting
The lantern casting is arragned for 3" x 3" spigot moutning which includes 'Allen' screws located internally for securing to column.

An alternative mounting arrangement is available with a wall mounting bracket cast from LM6 aluminium. The bracket also provides a housing with baseboard to accommodate a time switch. Fitting pads on the rear face of the racket cater for uneven wall surfaces. Access for inspection and maintenance is effected through a hinged door complete with a tamperproof lock.
