No. 619

THE MULTILITE "CUT-OFF" lantern has been designed to give a Type 3 B.S. light distribution with multiple lamp LINE source. The Type 3 light distribution gives a max. beam at 65°-70° and a cut-off at 77.5° to 80° from the downward vertical.

The lanterns are arranged with external lamp focussing.

For maximum visibility and effect of the thoroughfare the "Cut-off" type lantern requires a spacing of not more than 90 feet to 110 feet per row of lanterns, with a spacing-height ratio of approx. 4 to 1 and is suitable for opposite or central mounting.

The MULTILITE lantern gives the advantages of a line source distribution with also the colour discrimination obtained with Gas Filled lamps and are particularly suitable for the lighting of main shopping thoroughfares.

Where reduced intensities are required at the less busy periods the switching off of alternative lanterns of the "Cut-off" type gives objectional dark patches between units. With the Multilite lantern, using a series of lamps per lantern, fractional lighting, by switching off a selected number of lamps per lantern, can be made and still maintain the the evenness of lighting at the reduced intensities.

The MULTILITE lantern is constructed with a substantial cast hood in non-corrosive Aluminium arranged with a detachable sheet V.E. body fitted with lightly diffused mirror reflectors giving the correct light distribution B.S. Type 3 for "Cut-Off" lanterns.
