No. 606/7. With front glass removed

The "W" lantern series is totally enclosed and employs a double reflecting system above and below the lamp.

Fitted about the lamp are two specially shaped mirror reflectors to re-direct the upwardly-emitted light in two directions between 70^o and 80^o from the downward vertical.

Below the lamp and forming the bottom of the lantern is fitted a gable or inverted "V" section of clear glass, set so as to reflect by its FIRST SURFACE the downward light from the lamp to augment the directional beams at 70^o to 80^o. At the same time, being clear glass, sufficient light is transmitted in the downward direction to illuminate the immediate neighbourhood of the lantern.

The "W" lanterns are constructed with cast non-corrosive aluminium-alloy Hood and Ends, and is glazed with shallow fluted glass sides and end with a clear glass base.

The interior is easily accessible for both lamp and reflectors, the body being hinged to the hood and fastened by a quick-release safety catch.

No. 605 is designed for use with 45 or 60W sodium lamps.

Nos. 606/7 is for use with the 85 or 140W sodium lamps.

Nos. 626/7 (right) is for use with the horizontal burning 250 or 400W mercury lamps, and can be fitted with a Magnetic Deflector if required.
