The Davis Thyractor Convertor connected into an existing mercury lighting circuit allows the existing choke
and lantern to be retained but a high pressure sodium lamp to be used in place of the existing mercury lamp.
By replacing the mercury lamp with an HPS lamp giving
an equivalent light output a considerable saving in electricity can be achieved.
