DIRECTIONAL STREET LIGHTING
REFLECTORS

(MADE IN ENGLAND)

The G.E.C. directional street lighting units are of the open reflector form and can be supplied in various types for providing an asymmetric distribution of light in two, three or four directions at angles between the reflectors to suit varying road widths, junctions, intersections and mounting arrangements.

Silvered mirrored glass reflectors are normally supplied, but white opal glass can be substituted if desired.

SILVERED MIRROR REFLECTORS
These are of single piece glass bent to the correct contour, and cemented into cast iron backings, which assists in ensuring long life to the silvered surfaces. Diffusing glass is used to prevent objectionable glare, as with it the whole of the surface appears equally illuminated. The distribution is wider than that provided by other similar types of unit (and therefore more effectively covers the road width), and the intensity of the peak candle power is higher, due to the greater control of light effected by the larger surface area of the reflectors.

OPAL GLASS REFLECTORS
These are also of the single piece type cemented into the cast iron backings. THey have the advantage of extremely long life when employed in corrosive and humid atmospheres, but the intensity of the peak candle power is not so high as with the mirror reflectors.

GENERAL
The reflectors, either silvered or opal glass, are cemented into cast iron backings which are easily detachable from the top and body of the fitting by unscrewing two nuts for :-

  • Nesting for packing and stocking
  • Facilitating wiring and erection.
  • For replacements in event of breakage.
  • Interchangeability - as tops and bodies are universal for all patterns.
The performance of these fittings is based on using clear Osram lamps. The use of these lamps (which comply in all respects with the most rigid specifications) is advised if the best results are to be obtained.
