Clearside 9494/5 Lantern
For Osram Golden Linear Sodium Lamps

Specification Clearside 9494/5 Lantern

Use
Side road lighting, M.O.T. Group 'B' roads, mounting heights between 15-20 ft (4.57 - 6.1m)

Lamp
The lantern accommodates a 60-watt Osram golden linear sodium lamp and a starting relay. If switchless start gear is to be used, the lantern has no starting relay and has the catalogue number Z9495.

Mounting
The lantern requires not less than 3 in (61 cm) of horizontal unthreaded 1 in (2.5 cm) B.S.P. When fully home two 7/16 in (1.1 cm) diameter Allen type grub screws grip the barrel. The design allows for the lantern to be elevated if this is required.

Lantern Body
One-piece silicon aluminium alloy die-casting. The inner surface of the body is white enamelled. The enclosing bowl is formed from "Perspex" and is hinged to the top casting with a removable hinge pin made of stainless steel. A resilient gasket is fitted between the casting weathering lip and the enclosing bowl. The bowl is securely closed to the body by a stainless steel latch. The lantern is supplied completely wired and assembled and ready for erection.

The lantern complies with B.S. 1788.

Lampholders
Two moulded, insulated bi-pin holders.

Optical System
The main beams from the lantern are formed by a combination of bare lamp and flashed refractor plate working together.

Weathering Finish
The alloy used is specially selected for their resistance to corrosion. Further protection is obtained by the use of a pre-treatment primer and stove enamel top coat. Export packing details on application.

The iso-candela diagram is based on an average lamp life from a 60W Osram Golden Linear Sodium Lamp (5700 lumens average).

Directional intensity ratio: 2.0:1
Light above horizontal: 18%
Light output ratio: 77%
Lumens in the lower hemisphere: 3600

Light distribution data are given for the guidance of the lighting engineer and represent the average results of laboratory tests on a number of lanterns taken at random from stock. The data are based on the lamp characteristics stated; if the latest lamp efficiency is different, the candela or lumen values should be calculated in direct proportion to the relative lamp lumens.

Lantern weight: 4lb (1.81 kg)
