CLEARSIDE 8260 LANTERN
FOR OSRAM FLUORESCENT TUBES

Specification Clearside 8260

Use
Side road lighting, MOT Group 'B' roads, mounting heights between 15-20ft. (4.58 - 6.1m)

Tubes
The lantern accommodates two 2ft (61cm) 20W or 40W Osram fluorescent tubes.

Mounting
The lantern requires not less than 3in (7.6cm) of horizontal unthreaded 1 in (2.5cm) B.S.P. WHen fully home two 7/16 in (1.1cm) diameter Allen-type grub screws grip the barrel. The design allows for the lantern to be elevated if this is required.

Lantern Body
One-piece Silicon aluminium alloy die-casting. The enclosing bowl is formed from "Perspex" and is hinged to the top casting at two points by stainless steel removable hinges. It is closed to the lantern body by two stainless steel catches. A resilient gasket ensures a seal between the lip of the bowl and the lantern body.

The body supports a gear tray on which is mounted the lamp operating gear, lampholder supports and the wiring harness. The gear tray forms a complete unit which can be released quickly by loosening two screws. The lantern is supplied completely wired and assembled ready for erection. The lantern complies with BS 1788.

Weathering Finish
The alloy used is specially selected for its resistance to corrosion. Further protection is obtained by the use of pre-treatment primer and silver top coat, stoved on.

The polar curves are based on an average tube
life from two 2ft. 40W Osram white fluorescent tubes (2880 lumens average).
1. Light distribution in a vertical plane through maximum intensity.
2. Light distribution at 20° below the horizontal.

Light distribution data are given for the guidance of the lighting engineer and represent the average results of laboratory tests on a number of lanterns taken at random from stock. The data are based on the lamp characteristics stated; if the latest lamp efficiency is different, the candela or lumen values should be calculated in direct proportion to the relative lamp lumens.

Lantern weight: 16lb (7.26 kg).
