British Patent: 2283/11
The escapement (including the pallets) is jewelled, reducing friction and consequently wear to a minimum. Being of the level
movement, the clock will work in any position, and will run for 14 days with one winding. The whole is enclosed in a spun
brass dust-proof case. The switch is of simple construction, consisting of a star wheel with contact tips. The position of
tips alternatively opens or closes the switch, which also has a quick make-and-break action. The cases are made in
two patterns: (1) cast iron, watertight and stove enamelled for outdoor use and (2) cast iron, stone enamelled and provided with
ebonite bushes for leading-in cables for indoor use. By loosening two screws and detaching the wires, the whole switch and clock
movement can be removed from the case. It is particularly suitable for attaching to converted gas posts. The apparatus automatically
adjusts the time of lighting and extinguishing the lamps according to the season of the year.

British Patents: 2283/11 and 11057/13
The escapement (including the pallets) is jewelled, reducing friction and consequently wear to a minimum.
It is also compensated for temperature and fitted with a non-magnetic Breguet hair spring.
Being of the level
movement, the clock will work in any position, and will run for 45 days with one winding.
To ensure accurate time keeping throughout for such a period a fusee drive is employed.
The whole is enclosed in a spun
brass dust-proof case. The switch is of simple construction, consisting of a metal fork dipping in mercury contained
in two cups speciallyconstructed to prevent splashing. The switch has a quick make and break action, thus eliminating
the possibility of maintaining an arc.
It is particularly suitable for public street lighting, illumination of devices in
shop windows after closign time and for "all night" electric signs. The apparatus automatically
adjusts the time of lighting and extinguishing the lamps according to the season of the year.
