Holophane 4-Way Bowl Refractors are similar in size and mechanical construction to the standard symmetrical types, but the prism formation is designed to concentrate the light rays in four directions, every 90° around the unit.

The four-way refractor should be used at street intersections where the street widths do not exceed 80 feet.

At street intersections where the street widths exceed 80 feet, where the junction of the road forms an open area, or where the street intersections are not four in number or symmetrical the standard symmetrical type refractor should be used.

Data relating to illumination intensities recommended, amount of light required per lineal foot of street, etc., will be found on preceding pages.
