street lighting: a guide to good practice

Catalogue Number 15 from Holophane firstly explains the scientific principles and principles of street lighting before listing the various types of refractor available. This gives an excellent insight into the thinking behind street lighting in the 1920s which eventually lead to BS 307: Street Lighting in 1927.

Unfortunately the catalogue is undated, but given the emphasis given to Scentific Street Lighting, the early range of refractors and the lack of any standards, then it probably dates from the mid 1920s.
