The firm's range of products includes a great variety of Relays, Staircase Switches, Timers (synchronously driven for A.C. or on the condenser discharge principle for D.C.), Photoelectric Equipment etc. Where fifth core or pilot wires, or G.P.O. rented wires are available, remotely controlled street lighting can be applied by simply controlling the coils of Londex Mercury Relays (type L.Q.A.). Either A.C. or D.C. can be used for the control of such relays up to a switching capacity of 50 amps. Half-night off, whole-night on also provided by Londex Mercury Relays (type L.F.F.S.). The Master Switch can be an ordinary hand operated switch, time switche or Londex Photo-Electric Night/Day switch. The Londex Photo-Electric Night/Day switch operates between 150V and 270V, its sensitivity control allows adjustment to any light intensity down to 0.5 foot candles and it does not require any filament valves so will have a long service life and extremely low maintenance costs. - APLE Conference Programme 1946
