This street lighting fitting comprises cast aluminium alloy canopy and ends with internal high
quality vitreous enamelled reflector; the sides being of sheet aluminium.
Light control is obtained by means of internal silvered mirrors of special formation to ensure
effective light distribution and high efficiency, and absolute cut-off is obtained so that no
light is emitted above the horizontal, thus meeting the requirements for street lighting in the
vicinity of aerodromes.
The lanterns are suppled with lower panels of clear glass this providing complete protection against
the ingress of dust or insects.
The lower portion of the lantern is hinged to the canopy and access to the interior is readily obtained
by released two toggle action fasteners of stainless steel. Provision is also made for top or side entry mounting.

The recommended spacing-to-height ratio for cut-off Lanterns is 4-1 : e.g. at 25 ft mounting
height the normal spacing should not generally exceed about 100ft.
