Dollis Hill was caught up in the rapid expansion of the London Suburbs in the 1920s and 1930s, which defined the perimeters of the research establishment.

Building continued throughout this time, but one project in 1938, known as “The Dollis Hill Job” was kept secret and built rather quietly and quickly.

And it’s still there today, but you’d never know.
