It had lost its Victorian splendor before the fire. I remembered being disappointed looking into this room from the outside. I expected some architectural flair, but instead saw a 1970s office, yellowing fluorescent lamps and little partitions made of teak and cheap plastics.

The floor was definitely dangerous in here, providing the unwary a quick route to the Medical Library below.
