We found our way back to Reception and decided to continue our explorations
northwards up the smaller corridor. On the way past reception, we walked past
the only stairs in the main hospital buildings – these lead to the first floor
above Reception. This was originally the Telephone Exchange and
Matron’s Office –
now they were good lookout points to observe the stream of people now visiting the site.
(I’m not joking – we were the fourth and fifth visitors that afternoon and more would be showing up).
