The old farm buildings of Graylingwell Farm Estate were retained for use as the asylum farm. They were already historically notable as the previous home of Anna Sewell who penned the children's classic Black Beauty. I doubt such nostalgia would've been high in the mind of the pragmatic Victorians but the buildings were of good stock and retained.
