I finally got my bearings, seeing the burnt roof of the Admin Block ahead and the tiles of the former
kitchen ahead. Therefore, if Hellingly followed the pattern of Rauceby, and
Hine hardly altered his perfect brown tile asylum pattern, the core would consist of Kitchens,
Kitchen Courtyard, Stores and Admin.
We wandered into the kitchen and looked out of the windows towards the Stores across the kitchen courtyard.
Hine hadn’t let me down.
Then there was a noise. During the whole time we were in the asylum, it was never silent.
But this noise spooked us.
Some glass crunched and splintered. We looked at each other, nodded and then ran.
