I took a final picture of the unconquered water tower and Administration Block (and the boot of the car can just been seen in the picture). I explained to Magnus that it didn’t work out all the time, and sometimes missions had to be called off. But we’d spent a good day at the site, left in high spirits, and had got into several areas – a bonus at Rauceby.

The ultimate irony of course being that the person in the car was one of my contacts!

We thought we’d said goodbye to the place, but it was not to be. Not by a long shot.

Another explorer also found Rauceby open and wondered through the hospital, encountering a young couple with a baby as he did so. However, Bloom Demolition are on the ball, and the exterior doors have been nailed shut.

Rauceby is currently being demolished. Some wards, the Administration Block, the airing courts and the Chapel are being retained.

Bloom are going to let me know when the water tower is coming down - they reckon it'll take them a day. So, I feel that a picnic in an airing court is duly required, as we watch Hine's landmark tower being reduced to a pile of bricks..

Magnus will let me know when his piece is published.
