52. Giles And Biven, asked to design a cheap asylum by the Metropolitan Asylums Board, created a design with all the ward blocks arranged in parallel. Leavesdon was almost universally critisied when built, but it didn’t stop the MAB using the same design for Caterham and Banstead. All have been now demolished.
