This was the building that had caught my eye – not for its
façade but for the blast protected blockhouse to the back, with its huge embanked piles of soil.
The building at the front is the SSQ – Station Sick Quarters.
This one is built to design 7504/37. It would’ve had a waiting room, accident
reception center, kitchen, medical stores, consulting room, dental surgery,
consulting room, office and dispensary. The wards were upstairs – four beds
for airmen, two for officers and an observation room.
We didn’t explore the SSQ – Offkilter and I had thoroughly explored this
building, realized its use from what little was left, but found little of interest.
