Moving towards the back of the central block of the Officers’ Mess, we
found this small cinema, all the seats still in place. Most RAF stations had their own
cinemas, but it was more usual to find them in the Gym.
Someone’s belongings and clothing was strewn around this room. In fact, Offkilter and I
found a room with sleeping bags and clothing on our last visit. This made us uneasy, more so
when we found all the “Police Aware” tape around the place. We only relaxed (a little) when we
discovered that the Officers’ Mess was being used for police training.
