Cane Hill Project

Grubbing around under Vincent reveals a large floor space under the ward itself.

Odd looking cast iron metal bars are fitted to the walls.

These are the remains of a pulley system to allow the easy transportation of ash from the fireplaces through to the gardens outside.

The system is quite exensive and in places it blocks the underground passages.

Antique fuse boxes and telephone wiring can also be found here.

And well as ancient copies of the Daily Mail.

In one of their Smash And Grab raids (which is a crap metaphor since nothing is smashed and the only thing grabbed are pictures - but it's the speed of the operation that I'm trying to convey), brave and ruthless Cane Hill explorerers Marlon and Laurence have been grubbing around in the subterranean depths of Vincent.

After reports of finding a strange pulley mechanism, and all sort of lost bits-and-pieces, they returned with a camera, and took this series of shots.
