Cane Hill Project

Laura gave me a CD of pictures taken around the hospital. It was difficult to work out a proper order, so I've ordered them by location. Judging the levels of vandalism, I'd guess these were taken around 2003.

Admin Block #1
Frontage.

Admin Block #2
Frontage closer.

Admin Block #3
Frontage wide.

Admin Block #4
Frontage sans security fence.

Admin Block #5
Classic Man Who Sold The World angle.

Signage #1
Sign to left of Admin Block.

Signage #2
I have no idea where this is. Help?

Nurses' Home #1
Southern end of the nurses' home.

Nurses' Home #2
Back of the nurses' home.

Nurses' Home #3
This ripped and slashed curtains can be seen to the back of the nurses' home. Very easy to spot. Very creepy as well.

Male Hostel #1
This can be found to the back of the nurses' home.

Male Hostel #2
This wide shot gives an indication of the layout of the buildings - male hostel to the left and the nurses' home to the back.

Garden House #1
This is the path to the main hospital from the nurses' home. The Garden House is on the left; this is where the Cane Hill questionaire was found. The greenhouses are to the right.

Green House #1
These buildings are great, and well worth a visit.

Fido #1
Dead things. Lots of dead things around Cane Hill. I've yet to find the mummified cats (one in the main hospital, one in the tunnels). Fido can be found around the back of the greenhouses.

Swimming Pool #1
This picture definitely puts these shots before April 2003. When I was rummaging about in the bushes of the hospital for my Portrait Tour, the swimming pool had been filled in.

Swimming Pool #2
But the changing rooms are still there.

Exteriors #1
Hill/Harvard on the left, Guy in the middle, and Faraday to the right.

Exteriors #2
And turning to the right slightly, here's Faraday.

Exteriors #3
Great shot of the tower and the octagonal staircase with its tapered roof. Vincent/Vanbrugh (pre-fire) to the left.

Exteriors #4
Now walking down the service road at the back of the hospital. Water tower to the right, Nightingale to the left.

Corridor #1
This is really difficult to identify. There's a door to Craden on the right, but where's the door on the left (according to the plans)?

CH REF: C11 : 90o [Assumed]

Corridor #2
The debris mid-way along this corridor suggests we're standing by the kitchens, looking south, past the main hall (where the ceilings collapsed) towards Admin.

CH REF: C24 : 180o [Assumed]

Corridor #3
Corridor to a day room; unable to determine location.

Corridor #4
This is the mess of a corridor just behind the Admin block.

CH REF: C19 : 90o

Corridor #5
Alternative view of the above.

CH REF: C19 : 90o

Laundry #1
The ever lovely Cane Hill laundry. Clean, clean, clean.

CH REF: 37:G17 : 270o

Laundry #2
Moving further westwards.

CH REF: 37:G17 : 270o

Laundry #3
Swinging around and looking eastwards.

CH REF: 37:G17 : 90o

Courtyard Buildings #1
This was obviously the electrician's rooms

CH REF: 41:G04 : 0o

Courtyard Buildings #2
Moving southwards, but it's still the same room.

CH REF: 41:G04 : 0o

Admin Basement #1
In one of the basements of the Admin Block can be found a map room.

CH REF: 1:B14 or 1:B21 : 180o

Admin Basement #2
Many explorers have been in here and had a rummage. But the odd thing is that this room is full of plans of other hospitals - none of Cane Hill.

CH REF: 1:B14 or 1:B21 : 180o

Admin #1
Looking across the rooftops from the top floor of the Admin Block.

CH REF: 1:2.2 : 90o

Madness At Cane Hill
Not much I can say about this.

Paxton Ward #1
I'd recognise that pile of furniture anywhere.

CH REF: 24:G05 : 0o

Office #1
Furnished offices can be found as they were left in 1991.

Office #2
Piles of stationary, leaflets and magazines remain. None are a particularly good read.

Corridor #6
The red stripey decoration (and I use decoration in a loose sense) gives this location away. It's the corridor between Paxton/Pugin and Queens/Olave, which leads to the former Head Attendant's house. Or, it's now the snappy C23.

CH REF: C23 : 0o

Watertower #1
Water tower and incinerator chimney.

Watertower #2
Water tower viewed from a broken skylight.

Watertower #3
Classic shot of the water tower from the ruins of the main hall

CH REF: 20:G01 : 0o

Chapel #1
And another classic shot of the chapel from the corridor.

CH REF: C22 : 270o

Chapel #2
The stone/marble alter at Cane Hill.

CH REF: 2:G19 : 180o

Chapel #3
And this is the Chapel if you spin around and look northwards.

CH REF: 2:G19 : 0o

Chapel #4
Detail of the main alter.

CH REF: 2:G19 : 180o

Chapel #5
Sir James Moody's dedication plaque.

CH REF: 2:G19 : 180o

Chapel #6
The detail of James Moody's dedication.

CH REF: 2:G19 : 180o
