Cottage Hospital
Here's C H Howell's elevations of various parts of the hospital, including the Administration Block,
Ward A, Ward D and The Cottage Hospital. Cottage Hospitals were small buildings, usually located in villages and small towns, and
acted as a small general hospital for the immediate population. Cane Hill's Cottage Hospital is absolutely typical with
its separation of the sexes, two main wards, and a service area to the back. Oddly, there was no childrens ward nor staff accommodation -
but the staff would've slept in the main dormitory to the back of the main hospital.
Whilst the Cottage Hospital would've served the needs of the residents of Coulsdon, it's now become the Secure Unit of the site.
