Taking the stairs down a storey, we passed through the roof of the bunker which consisted of three foot thick concrete. Old fuse boxes were still on the walls - often in pairs offering a main supply and backup.

Modern trunking and wiring had also been installed to provide lighting to key parts of the bunker. The housing association had to pump out the bunker (the lower level had flooded) and install new lighting as part of the conditions of sale. The bunker is a Grade II listed building (if, indeed, it can be called a building).
