This was an extremely popular lantern, but it's now started to disappear from our streets.

This particular example was found in a reclaim yard near Norwich in the late 1990s. It had been left in the yard for years and was in dreadful condition, but I didn't have one of these lanterns so I picked it up. Lucky I did: it was still fitted with its original GEC open-coil transformer and capacitor.

The lantern has now been fulled restored and a new bowl has been fitted.
