Unknown #4

I picked up these brackets and lanterns from Drummond's Reclaim Yard several years ago. I was under the mistaken belief that the lanterns were REVO Lodestars but this didn't seem to be the case.

It turns out they are French brackets and lanterns from the 1920s through to the 1940s. They would've taken a single GLS lamp and the simple optical system of a spun overhead reflector attempted to redistribute some of the flux emitted above the lamp.

You can sometimes still find examples in French village and towns, but they're becoming extremely rare now.

The other lantern was swapped with fellow collector Bob Cookson.
