A Z.8128 "DIFRACTOR" lantern mounted at 25 ft. on a modern steel column at Hammersmith.

Z.8425 "HORIZAL" lantern on the Great North Road at Grantham. The lantern is fitted with a 400 watt OSRAM H.P.M.V. (type MA/H) lamp burning horizontally.



Sidcup By-Pass, Woolwich, lighted by a single line of Z.8434 Blown Glass Cut-Off lanterns mounted on the centre island. The centre reservation is 7 ft. across and each carriageway is 28 ft. board. The installation was originally lighted by OSRAM H.P.M.V. 400 watt lamps but at the time of the photograph these had been replaced by 250 watt lamps, to achieve fuel economy.



The first installtion of Z.8421 "DIOPTRION" lanterns to be switched on in England is at Portsmouth. Each lantern is fitted with a 250 watt OSRAM H.P.M.V. (Type MA/H) lamp burning horizontally.
