SIDE STREET LANTERNS AND "UNIWAY" LIGHTING

Z.5546SB small "OXFORD" lantern on a concrete
column at Wimborne. The choke or transformer, capacitor,
fuses etc. are housed in the base of the column.

One of over 1,300 Z.9420 G.E.C. side street lantern
for use with 45 watt Sodium lamps installed at Salisbury.

A section of double carriageway main road at Huddersfield lighted by Z.8411 "UNIWAY" lanterns fitted with 125 watt
OSRAM H.P.M.V. lamps. The lanterns are mounted at 25 ft. on concrete columns. In this installation the light is only
directed towards the oncoming traffic so that the carriageway in use by this traffic is bright, whilst the other appears
to be dark, although, in fact, both carriageways are lighted to the same level.
