CLEARMAIN 8128 LANTERN
FOR OSRAM MERCURY LAMPS

Specification
Clearmain 8128

USE
Main road lighting, 25 ft mounting height, spacing 120-150 ft, road width up to 40 ft.

LAMPS
Z8128B. 125W MB/U or MBF/U, 250W or 400W Osram mercury-type MA/V lamp or 250W or 400W MBF/U lamp.

MOUNTING
Side entry. Requires 2.3/4 in. of horizontal, unthreaded 1.1/4 in. B.S.P. When fully home, two 7/16 Allen-type grub screws grip the barrel.

LANTERN BODY
Totally enclosed die-cast light alloy with spun light alloy spring fit detachable top. A water baffle and drainage hole to carry off any water running along the bracket and an earthing screw are provided.

LAMPHOLDER
Porcelain G.E.S. mounted on a bridge piece and wired to a porcelain connector with heat-resisting insulted wire.

FOCUSING
A bridge piece carried on two vertical rods, one marked with grooves giving correct focal positions for different lamp wattages.

OPTICAL SYSTEM
The refractor is made in one piece of heat resisting glass and is a Z6612/170 degrees non-axial asymmetric bowl refractor. This has vertical curved prisms and deep flutes on the interior surface to provide light control. The exterior of the bowl is smooth expect for some prisms on the base. A white vitreous enamelled inner reflector is provided with 3 in. diameter hole for the lamp. A hinged stainless steel spring ring and toggle catch holds the prismatic bowl pressed against a felt ring in the main body casting.

WEATHERING FINISH
The alloy used is especially selected for its resistance to corrosion. Further protection is obtained by the use of a suitable primer, undercoat and matt aluminium-finish top coat.

Export packing details on application.

Lantern open to show lamp, globe ring and toggle catch.

The iso-candela diagrams are based on an average lamp light output through life from: (a) 250W Osram mercury type MA/V lamp (7,750 lumens average)
(b) 400W Osram mercury type MA/V lamp (13,800 lumens average)

Light distribution data are given for the guidance of the lighting engineer and represent the average results of laboratory tests on a number of lanterns taken at random from stock. The data are based on the lamp characteristics stated; if the latest lamp efficiency is different, the candela or lumen values should be calculated in direct proportion to the relative lamp lumens.

LANTERN WEIGHT: 21lb (9.52 kg).
