Phosware Conical Lanterns for Group "B" lighting are made in two types:-

Post Top for mounting on to the spigot of the column and -

Pendant for suspending from the column bracket.

Nos. P102A, P103A, P107A and P108A willaccommodate GLS lamps up to 200W, MB/U and MBF/U mercury lamps up to 125W and also 45-60W Sodium lamps.

The Post Top type is arranged witha cast alum-alloy Spigot Cap, a seamless diffused Perspex Cone 11½" dia at top, 8" dia at bottom and 14" deep, which is clamped to the spigot cap by means of an internal frame and aluminium top spinning with an ornamental screw knob.

The Perspex cone is fixed to the hood spinning and the ornamental fixing screw is also made captive in the hood spinning so that the whole exterior assembly is detachable in one piece for ease of maintenance which, also gives complete accessibility to the interior for adjustment of refractor, cleaning and lamp replacement.

The Pendant type is fixed direct to the column bracket from the top and instead of a cast metal base the Perspex cone is made with a curved opal base forming a complete conical shaped bowl, which is removable from the base.

The interior forms a strong metal support for the lantern independant of the Perspex cone, which consists of two cast spiders koined togetehr by metal tubes, which carry the wiring and also an adjustable cast slider to which is fixed a two-way non-axial prismatic refractor for light control.

Post Top Lantern

For 2ft Fluroescent Lamps

For Group "B" Street Lighting


P 140A


Phosware P140A vertical type Post-Top lantern is designed for use with 2-2ft or 4-2 ft. 40 watt fluorescent tubular lamps.

The 2-2ft. type is designed for side of road lighting and is arranged to give a non-axial two-way light distribution by means of specially formed reflectors of high purity anodised aluminium sheet metal.

The lantern body consists of a cast aluminium spigot cap, a one-piece Perspex Cone and a 24 inch diameter aluminium hood.

The complete assembly is fixed by means of a centre tube of 1 in. BSP, which tube also carries the Control Gear so that the lantern is self-contained.
