This range of fittings for Group 'B' roads is designed for 2 ft. Fluorescent lamps -
either 20 watt or 40 watt. The fitting can be supplied with switch or instant start gear.
The fitting comprises a one-piece Perspex envelope and a white PVC end cap. The
envelope has a white opalescent top with the remainder clear. The lampholders are fitted to
a white stove-enamelled reflector which also serves as a tray for the control gear.
A quick release fastener enables the end cap to be easily removed and access to the interior
of the fitting can then be obtained by releasing a captive knurled screw and sliding the
gear tray out. A stop is provided to retain the tray in a convenient position for maintenance.
An alternative means of access to the gear tray is available by removing the end cap as before
and then freeing a second quick release fastener which secures the envelope. Removal
of the envelope gives direct access to the gear tray.
The first method of gaining access to the gear is suitable when ladders are used for maintenance and
where a servicing tower is available either method may be employed.
