The VERTICAL type Fluorescent lantern is designed for top of column mounting and for the lighting of Housing Estates, Garden Sites and similar situations.

They are made in two types: No.704 for normal street lighting, and No. 705 for the general lighting of larger areas.

With No. 704 the back section is glazed with diffusing opal, while the two sections fronting the roadway clear perspex windows are used. With each of the two 40W. lamps is fitted an anodised aluminium reflector to give a 2-way non-axial distribution.

With No. 705, which can be supplied for either two or three lamps, all three windows are glazed with opal perspex and give a general light distribution.

The lantern is constructed around a cast aluminium base and top ring connected together by a central V.E. tube, which carries the lamp-holder assembly, white top reflector and detachable spun metal cap.

The Control Gear for either the two or four lamps can be accommodated in the space between the cast top ring and the spun metal cap.
