Gas Meter Company

Gas Meter Company Limited
238 Kingsland Road
London E2
England

Manufacturers of the London Clock Controller. Amongst their range was the London Cluster which could extinguish a proportion of a gas lantern's burners at midnight and the remainder at an early hour. The Kingsland was a new controller (as of 1932) but was already controlling many street lights in the capital. - APLE Exhibition Catalogue 1932

The company exhibited their complete range of clock controllers at the 1936 APLE Conference in Cheltenham. The London and Kingsland controller were both on display. - Public Lighting #3, 1936

The London and Kingsland controllers are being exhibited at the APLE's conference. The London Controller can be arranged for cluster lighting and extinguishing a section of the burner at any predetermined time and the remaining sections at a later hour as desired. The Kingsland Controller is specially suitable for lamps having maximum consumption of 40 cu. ft. per hour. Both are available in weatherproof cases. - APLE Conference Programme 1937

The London and Kingsland controllers are again being exhibited in the comprehensive range of Controllers. Controllers for special purposes are also being exhibited. The requirements of A.R.P. officers will be catered for in the exhibition of The Emergency Control For Street Lighting which has been specially devised for the extinction of public lamps, whilst private consumers are able to continue the use of gas at a lower pressure during an emergency. - Public Lighting #10, 1938 and APLE Conference Programme 1938

Several of the installations in the Glasgow exhiit are fitted with London and Kingsland controllers. The Kingsland controller has been installed by a large number of Gas Undertakings in the United Kingdon and is suitable for use with lamps having up to 12 medium mantles. For special lighting installations and other appliances the London Clock Controller is recommended - there is a separate operating and time-keeping train, thus providing greater clockwork power for the cock action. - APLE Conference Programme 1939

Describe the details of the Kingsland clock controller. - APLE Conference Programme 1947
